Uses:
This compound is used as an ophthalmic preservative, a topical anti- infective and a topical veterinary antibacterial and antifungal agent. It is also used as a bacteriostat and a fungistat. It is an FDA over-the-counter drug. Preservative in vaccines, antitoxins, skin testing allergens, antiseptics, contact lens solutions, and cosmetic products like eye makeup.
