This compound is used as a fixative for perfumes, a bactericide [in conjunction with 1,2-dibromo-2,4-dicyanobutane (Euxyl K 400) as well as quaternary ammonium compounds], a insect repellent, a topical antiseptic, a solvent for cellulose acetate, dyes, inks and resins, in organic synthesis of plasticizers, in germicides, in pharmaceuticals, in cosmetics and in preservatives.
